Meek Mill Takes Shots At Drake & Nicki Minaj On New “Meekend Music” Songs
Here are all the lyrics that seem to be directed at Meek’s Young Money foes.
Three new Meek Mill tracks arrived today, on the MMG rapper’s 30th birthday. The three-track “Meekend Music” bundle includes a collab with A$AP Ferg (” $lay “) as well as one with Young Thug (” Backboard “). As with most everything Meek puts out, fans listened attentively for any lyrics that might be directed at his enemies. And though each of the songs are far from being diss tracks, Meek does seem to take a few shots at Drake and Nicki Minaj.
Meek never mentions Drake by name, though he does allude to the ghostwriting controversy that kicked off their sensational beef almost two years ago. “Packing in this b!tch and you know we reloaded / Look at the credits and tell you who wrote it,” he raps on “$lay.”
Then on the only solo song, “Left Hollywood,” Meek mentions the title of Drake’s latest album, or “playlist.” “Where I’m from, if you
turn 18, then that’s More Life ,” Meek raps on the inspirationa track.
“$lay” also includes some bars aimed at Meek’s ex-lady, who just put out the video for “Regret in Your Tears,” which is thought to be about their breakup. Meek begins “$lay” with a pun on Nicki’s last name, rapping, “Woke up this morning I had a ménage.” He also seems to shout-out to the woman whom Nicki has been beefing with, Remy Ma . “I’m on the roof with that scope / When I hit them little bitches like Remy my n*gga,” he ends the same verse.
It’s not surprising that Meek has offered a lyrical response to “Regret in Your Tears” as well as the shots Nicki might have taken on “No Frauds.” As for his ongoing feud with Drake, it doesn’t seem like either of them are in full-on beef mode, though these new songs do cast doubt upon Rick Ross’ recent claim that he had effectively resolved all tensions between MMG and OVO.
